Confession time. I’ve been sewing since I was knee-high to a grasshopper, but truth be told, I don’t know much about the machine that does the work for me. Heck, until just a little over a year ago, I’d never heard of things like walking feet. The machine that I use now is very simple, and does straight lines, or zig stitching. I didn’t think there was a need to learn much more.
But then I was fortunate enough to sew with a Pfaff machine for a weekend, and have mercy my eyes were opened. The control, the ability…it was like I was sewing for the first time. Though I was sad to give up the ghost (in the machine?) it did make me realize that if I’m going to spend this much time with a machine, I should really learn how to use it. So as I sit here and sip my tea, I’m starting a class on Craftsy.
Sewing Machine Feet from A to Z is a free class on Craftsy.com that walks (haha) you through each foot that you can purchase for sewing machines. I’m hoping that this class will teach me some new techniques, and get me started on being more intimate with my machine.
