Do you ever find yourself obsessed with a movie?
It’s rare for me to become fixated on a movie, but every so often, I can’t get enough. I have been this way for as long as I can remember. As a kid, it was anything Jim Henson related. If it had a Henson Muppet, I was all over it. In college, I was obsessed with Bring It On, and Tim Burton movies. It’s been a few years since I have found myself drawn to a movie .
I watched Beautiful Creatures when it came out in the theater. I thought it was beautifully shot, and I really loved the characters in the movie. Recently it played on HBO, and I find myself watching it over and over again. When it’s not on, I crave watching it. Yes, it’s based on teen fantasy novels, and yes, it’s filled with angst, witches and other supernatural creatures. It’s not a movie that is going to change the worldview, but it’s a movie that has changed me.
So today, while I’m stuck in the house with another snowstorm brewing, I’m going to return to the deep south, and watch a witch fall in love with a regular boy. Maybe twice…
Do you have a movie that no matter how many times you’ve watched it, you could stand to see it one more time? What other movies would you suggest I watch?
I think I know exactly what you mean! For me there are several from earlier times. One is Who’s that Girl starring Madonna. I just find it hilarious and I never get tired of it. Satisfaction with Justine Batemen and Liam Neeson is another favorite. Of course, Princess Bride never gets old either. Recently I’ve found myself drawn to the Hunger Games and have watched it several times in the past year. Maybe it’s because of Josh Hutcherson, though … hahaha.
Andrew I love Who’s That Girl too. There are a lot of 80’s and 90’s movies that I watch frequently, but I consider them guilty pleasures. I don’t let a lot of people know I watch them, because they’re so bad.
